Calgary, AB, January 24, 2011 – Divorce can be a major event in one’s life, but it does not have to define a person. It is this philosophy that inspired Karen Stewart, President and CEO of Fairway Divorce Solutions, to declare January 25 as International Changing the Way Divorce Happens Day. “We need to better the divorce industry for generations to come and we can do this by changing the way divorce happens today,” says Stewart.
On this day, select Fairway offices across North America will join together to create a movement by hosting open house seminars that will push for change throughout the divorce industry. “Attendees will learn of their options for moving through the divorce process; how to save assets; how to reach a resolution in a timely manner; protect any children involved; work to strengthen relationships, not destroy them; and more,” says Stewart. “International Changing the Way Divorce Happens Day is about educating the public on the entire process of divorce, from removing emotions from decision making, to working to preserve the dignity of the family.”
January, dubbed Divorce Month by some, was a natural fit to host these seminars as Fairway typically sees a nationwide influx in the number of calls from couples looking to begin a divorce. “A lot of couples wait until the Holidays are over and a New Year has begun to start seriously considering divorce. This way the Holidays aren’t forever plagued with bad memories, and any children involved are now back in school,” added Stewart.
Anyone who is considering divorce or who knows someone who is looking to divorce needs to ensure that they thoroughly understand all of their options, and International Changing the Way Divorce Happens Day is a great opportunity for the public to gain knowledge from experts in the areas of mediation, law, finance and parenting. The cost of attendance is minimal at $10, and proceeds will be donated to a local children’s charity.
